Maranatha Baptist FellowshipScoggan MinistryText Box: Fifteen Prayer Requests For Missionaries And Christian Workers

Have you ever wondered how to pray for Christian workers? I have heard people say, Richard, I don’t know HOW to pray for you. Often we don’t have particular details about the immediate needs of those who are serving Christ in ministry. And as a result, we sometimes just don’t pray.

It does help to have knowledge of the missionary and his situation when we pray. But there are guidelines in the scriptures encouraging us to “lift up holy hands in prayer” for each other even without knowledge of particular details or specific needs. Here are fifteen specific requests Paul made for others (and would encourage us to make) as we “remember those who speak the word of God” in ministry.

From Colossians 1.9-11
Pray that we may have the knowledge of God’s will.
Pray that we would please Him
Pray that we may bear spiritual fruit through our good works
Pray that we may be strengthened with power according to the Lord’s might
Pray that we may have endurance and patience and joyfully give thanks to the Father in all things

From Colossians 4.3
Pray that we may have open doors to proclaim Christ

From Ephesians 6.19-20
Pray that we may be fearless and bold to proclaim the Gospel

From Titus Chapter 2
Pray that we may teach what is in accord with sound doctrine, (vs 1)
teaching, encouraging and rebuking with authority (vs 15)

From Philippians 1.9-11
Pray that we would love others more and more
Pray that we may have discernment as to what is best
Pray that we would be pure and blameless until Jesus comes

From Hebrews 13.18-19
Pray that we would have a clear conscience before all

From 2 Thessalonians 1.11-13
Pray that we would be worthy of Christ’s calling
Pray that God would fulfill every good purpose of ours
Pray that the name of the Lord Jesus will be glorified in us

These things are good to pray for every child of God, not just for those called to be ministers

Our Vision
Work with children and youth, evangelizing and discipling them to bring them into maturity in Christ

Our Work
Children’s Chapel is a ministry building in our neighborhood suitable for large groups (up to 200) where Gladys directs a weekly evangelistic Bible Club for approximately 150 children and mothers on Saturday afternoons. In 13 years of ministry more than 2000 children have heard the gospel with hundreds making decisions to follow Christ. Many of these are growing in the Lord and now established in local churches.

Carachipampa Christian School is an MK school for roughly 150 children of 10 nationalities. Richard works as a HS math and science teacher and gives guidance to university bound students. He also works closely with the Director regarding grades, records and discipline of students.

Evangelical Church is a Brethren assembly of several hundred where Gladys and Richard attend. Gladys directs the Christian Education program and both are teachers within the assembly

Prayer Needs
Children’s Chapel needs dedicated workers to assist in teaching and discipling children through Club outreaches. We especially need workers for teenage/youth ministry The building could be used as a meeting place for a church but there would have to be a national pastor who would be committed to live and work in the neighborhood. Many of the people in our neighborhood are quite poor with many material and physical needs.

Carachipampa Christian School continually needs teachers. Please visit www.carachipampa.org for more info.

Richard and Gladys need prayer for their health, for strength, for their family – especially Gracie who has some special needs—and for their spiritual / devotional life. Pray also for God to meet their financial needs. Pray for their time in the USA until January when they will return to Bolivia. They will be visiting many churches and traveling across Central and NE Kansas during these months.

Please contact us by email ( r.scoggan@yahoo.com ) for an update on our ministry and prayer needs.
